You're heading back for your flight, and the airport signs suddenly offer several different places to go. For an Enterprise rental car return at CLT, follow “Rental Car Returns,” not terminal passenger drop-off. Enterprise’s published directions place the return entrance on your left after you pass the main entrance to the Hourly Deck.
Once you enter the return area, follow the signs specifically for Enterprise. CLT places its rental companies together in the Rental Car Facility, with counters in the Level 2 lobby of the Hourly Deck in front of the terminal. That counter location helps explain the layout, but it isn't the driving destination for your return.
Before leaving your hotel or last stop, check the return location on your rental agreement and set your navigation for that facility rather than a generic airport pin. As you approach, use the posted Rental Car Returns signs to identify the entrance. Keep your agreement handy in case you need to confirm where the car belongs.
Returning outside staffed hours needs an extra check. Enterprise’s published CLT instructions say to park in its return lane and leave the keys inside the vehicle. Confirm that procedure directly with the branch before your trip back, and check the posted instructions when you arrive rather than treating it as a rule for every rental company.
After parking, gather your bags, check the cabin and cargo area for belongings, and follow current signs toward the terminal. Enterprise’s return page lists elevators to Level 5 or Level 1, while CLT’s pickup guidance describes a Lower Level Walkway connection to the Level 2 rental lobby. Those describe different parts of the journey; use the terminal-bound signs at your actual return location instead of trying to reverse the pickup instructions from memory.
Build your departure plan around more than the drive to the airport: leave room for the handoff, unloading and reaching the terminal before your airline’s check-in or security deadlines. If the return location or key instructions aren't clear, ask Enterprise before leaving the vehicle. CLT directs company-specific rental questions to the rental companies themselves.
