You’ve landed, you’ve got your bags, and now you’re looking for a rental shuttle. For rental car pickup at ORD, the airport’s directions point you to the Airport Transit System, or ATS, instead. Take that train to the Multi-Modal Facility—the rental car center—rather than heading outside in search of a company bus.
The names can make this sound more complicated than it is. ATS means the airport train, and MMF means the Multi-Modal Facility where the airport lists its rental car companies. Chicago’s airport website says the ATS connects Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 5 with the MMF. If you arrive at Terminal 5, you use that connection too.
Collect any checked bags before making your way to the rental facility. Enterprise’s ORD instructions specifically tell arriving renters to follow signs to their flight’s baggage claim, then proceed to the ATS for the MMF/Rental Car Facility. Keep your supplier’s arrival instructions handy so you can check where to go once you reach the building.
Don’t let the phrase “pickup service unavailable” send you hunting for another ride. Enterprise’s ORD page uses that wording while also directing passengers to the ATS. For an arriving Enterprise renter, the published route is still the airport train to the rental facility, followed by a visit to the counter for the rental agreement. For another supplier, check its own counter or direct-to-car instructions rather than assuming the same process.
If someone is driving you to collect the car, save the rental facility’s address: 10255 W. Zemke Blvd., Chicago, IL 60666. Both the airport and Enterprise identify that address for the MMF. Use it as your destination rather than simply entering “O’Hare,” and confirm that your reservation names this pickup location.
Plan the return connection before you leave, too. The airport says passengers should use the ATS between the MMF and the terminals in either direction. Follow your supplier’s vehicle-return directions first, then take the train to your departure terminal. When planning your airport arrival, leave room for unloading, completing the return and making that transfer—not just the drive to O’Hare.
