Rental car or rideshare at LAS? Plan your first day's ride
Choose a rental car or rideshare at LAS based on when you’ll actually need to drive, then head to the right pickup area.

You’ve landed, your bags are coming, and your only plan today is getting to the hotel. Rental car or rideshare at LAS? If you won’t need to drive until later in the trip, consider taking a rideshare first and arranging your rental to start when you need it. If you’re heading straight into a driving itinerary, collecting the car on arrival is the more direct fit.
The important difference is where you go after baggage claim. LAS rental cars aren’t collected at the terminal: the airport’s Rent-A-Car Center is at 7135 Gilespie Street, about three miles south of the airport. Free shuttles connect the terminals and the center. Include that transfer in your arrival plan rather than treating the keys as your next stop after the baggage carousel.
For a rental pickup, follow the rental-car shuttle signs rather than the rideshare signs. Enterprise’s LAS instructions, for example, tell you to collect your luggage, take the shuttle to the rental facility and then visit its counter for your agreement and keys. Follow your own supplier’s instructions for what happens once you reach the center.
If you choose Uber or Lyft instead, the airport lists a different route. At Terminal 1, the pickup area is on Level 2 of the parking garage: go up from baggage claim, cross to the garage and turn right. At Terminal 3, go up to Level 2, cross the bridge to the garage and take the elevator to Level V, the Valet level. Check your app and airport signs before settling in to wait.
Before postponing the rental, compare the whole plan—not just the number of rental days. Check the rideshare quote, the rental price for your intended dates and how you’ll reach the eventual rental pickup location. Don’t assume a shorter rental will automatically make the combined trip cheaper, or that a later pickup will be near your hotel.
Already have an arrival-day reservation? Don’t simply skip the counter and assume you can collect the car tomorrow. Ask your rental supplier about changing the pickup date and time, the revised price and where you’ll collect it. If you booked through Booking.com, review the change options and supplier terms shown with your reservation before choosing a different arrival ride.
Make the decision before you start following ground-transportation signs. Save either your rental pickup instructions or the rideshare pickup directions, and share the plan with everyone traveling with you. That keeps your group headed toward one meeting point instead of splitting between the shuttle stop and the parking garage.
