You’ve got your keys, your bags are waiting, and there’s a scrape on the bumper. Should you take LAS rental car photos before leaving? Yes—make a quick condition record at pickup and repeat it at return. Treat photos as a supplement to reporting a problem, not a replacement for telling the rental company.
Plan for that check before you’re standing beside the car. Harry Reid’s Rent-A-Car Center is at 7135 Gilespie Street, three miles south of the airport, with free shuttles connecting it to the terminals. Keep your phone handy and leave room in your arrival plans for a walk-around rather than treating receipt of the keys as your departure time.
At pickup, start with wide photos of the front, rear and both sides. Then photograph any visible marks closely enough to show the detail, plus a wider view showing where each mark is on the vehicle. Include the windshield, wheels and any interior stains or tears you notice. Check that the pictures are clear before moving on.
If you spot damage, ask an employee how to have it recorded before you drive away. Enterprise’s LAS instructions, for example, direct you to its counter for your agreement and keys; use your own supplier’s process for raising condition concerns. Ask for a copy of any acknowledgment, and don’t assume taking a picture automatically notifies the company.
It’s also useful to photograph the dashboard while the car is parked, capturing the displayed mileage and fuel or battery level. Keep those pictures with your agreement and condition photos. If a warning light or visible problem worries you, ask staff to assess it before leaving rather than trying to diagnose an unfamiliar car yourself.
At return, repeat the exterior and interior pictures after parking and removing your belongings. The supplied LAS rental guide specifically recommends photographing the car before taking the airport transfer back to your terminal. Build that step into your return plan, and follow your supplier’s instructions for the actual handoff.
Keep the pickup and return sets together with your return receipt and any messages about the car’s condition. Photos don’t guarantee how a supplier will resolve a disagreement, and reporting requirements can vary. If a condition question comes up later, ask what specifically is being disputed and send the relevant records rather than an unsorted camera roll.
