DFW Minivan Rentals Under 25: Check Age Limits First

If you’re planning a minivan rental at DFW under 25, check the supplier’s age rules before counting on those extra seats.

You’ve got a group, everyone’s bags, and a minivan on your shortlist—but you’re not 25 yet. Can you rent a minivan at DFW under 25? At Avis, its DFW page says you must be at least 25 to rent a minivan. Other suppliers’ rules need checking individually, so don’t assume that being old enough to rent a car means you’re eligible for every vehicle class.

Avis lists a general minimum rental age of 21 at DFW, but it raises that minimum to 25 for certain car types, including minivans, luxury cars and full-size SUVs. That means switching from a minivan to a full-size SUV won’t solve the age issue there. Ask which classes you’re eligible to rent before comparing space or choosing an alternative.

An underage surcharge and a vehicle restriction are different things. Avis’s DFW page lists a $27 daily surcharge for renters under 25, but paying that fee doesn’t remove its minimum-age requirement for minivans. The same page says debit cards are accepted from renters 25 and older, so younger renters should also confirm which payment method they’ll need.

Traveling with someone older? Decide who will actually drive, then check eligibility for everyone—not just the person making the reservation. Avis’s DFW page says additional drivers must be at least 25 and have a license. Don’t assume an older person can rent the minivan and simply add a younger traveler to share the driving.

Before booking through Booking.com, check the rental conditions and ask the selected supplier directly: “I’m this age, traveling with this many people and bags—can I rent your minivan class at DFW, and what documents and payment method do I need?” If you need another class, ask about passenger and luggage capacity too. Treat any pictured model as “or similar,” not a promise of that exact vehicle.

At pickup, confirm the approved drivers and vehicle class before accepting a substitute. DFW’s Rental Car Center is at 2424 E. 38th Street, near the airport’s south entrance. If the offered vehicle won’t accommodate your group and luggage, ask the counter about eligible alternatives and any price difference before agreeing to a change.
