Chicago Airport Car Rental: Don’t Mix Up ORD and MDW

You’ve found a Chicago airport car rental that fits your trip, and you’re ready to book. First, check three letters: if you’re landing at O’Hare, your airport code is ORD; Midway is MDW. Match the rental pickup location to your flight before comparing the finer details of the car.

Midway has its own rental listings, so a result labeled “Chicago” isn’t enough to confirm an O’Hare pickup. Look for the full airport name and code in the offer you’re considering. A suitable car at the wrong airport still leaves you with a pickup problem.

For an O’Hare rental-center pickup, the airport lists the Multi-Modal Facility at 10255 W. Zemke Blvd., Chicago, IL 60666. Enterprise’s ORD location lists that same address. Use it as a cross-check when your selected supplier’s instructions say to collect the car at that facility; always read the instructions for your particular booking.

Also separate “airport location” from “terminal counter” in your planning. O’Hare directs passengers to take the Airport Transit System, or ATS, between the terminals and the rental facility. Enterprise likewise tells arriving renters to follow signs to baggage claim, then take the ATS to the facility. Plan for that transfer rather than expecting your car beside baggage claim.

Before booking on Booking.com, compare your flight itinerary with the rental’s pickup airport, pickup date and time, and return location. Check the return separately, especially if you deliberately plan to fly home from a different airport. Don’t assume the pickup and return locations match just because both are in Chicago.
