ATL Rental Car Return: Where to Go Before Your Flight
For your ATL rental car return, navigate to the Rental Car Center—not your departure terminal—and plan the transfer afterward.

You’ve packed the car and pulled up your flight, but which airport address goes into navigation? For an ATL rental car return, your destination is the Rental Car Center, not the Domestic or International Terminal. Returning the vehicle and getting to your airline are separate steps, so plan for both before leaving your hotel.
The airport’s shared rental facility is at 2200 Rental Car Center Parkway, College Park, GA 30337. ATL’s rental return guide gives this address, and Hertz lists its airport location there, too. Compare it with the return location on your own rental agreement before saving it—especially if you arranged a different drop-off location.
Use the Rental Car Center as your navigation destination rather than searching only for “Atlanta airport.” As you approach, watch for “Rental Car Center” or “Car Rental Return” signs, then follow your rental company’s return directions. It’s worth reviewing the final approach while you’re still parked so you aren’t trying to sort out the destination on the move.
After the handoff, you still need to reach your terminal. The return guide identifies the ATL SkyTrain, or a shuttle when needed, as the onward connection. Check your airline’s departure terminal and confirm the appropriate transfer before return day, particularly for an international departure. Don’t assume the vehicle drop-off puts you at airline check-in.
Build your departure plan backward from the time you need to be at the terminal. Include the drive, any fuel stop your agreement requires, the vehicle return and the terminal transfer. Those are separate tasks; a navigation app’s arrival time at the rental facility doesn’t account for finishing the return or reaching your airline.
Before leaving the car, make a final sweep of the trunk, door pockets and charging ports. As a precaution, photograph the vehicle’s condition and dashboard, and ask how you’ll receive confirmation of the return. If you accidentally reach a passenger terminal first, stop somewhere permitted before resetting navigation to the Rental Car Center rather than trying to improvise a handoff there.
