An after-hours rental car return at MCO may be available, but confirm your supplier’s return location, key instructions and timing before departure day.

Your flight leaves early, and you’d rather not spend the morning hunting for a key box. An after-hours rental car return at MCO is an option with Enterprise, which explicitly lists that service at its airport location. The useful next step is to get the exact return procedure from your supplier before you leave the pickup counter—not assume every company handles it the same way.
Enterprise’s MCO page lists daily counter hours of 7 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., alongside “After-Hours Returns Available.” Those are separate pieces of information: the counter’s opening time doesn’t, by itself, tell you when you can return a vehicle. Confirm the current hours and return arrangements for your departure date.
Avis, meanwhile, lists its MCO location as open 24 hours. If you’re renting from Avis, ask whether your planned return point will be staffed at the hour you expect to arrive. A location’s published hours aren’t a substitute for instructions about the specific entrance, parking area and key handoff you’ll use.
Before driving away at pickup, ask the agent to identify the correct return entrance and confirm which terminal’s return area you should use. Enterprise and Avis both list counters serving Terminals A, B and C, so “back to the airport” isn’t a precise enough plan. Save your supplier’s directions and ask how to reach your departure terminal after leaving the car.
If the return will be unattended, get clear instructions on where to park, how to secure the vehicle and where to leave the keys. Also ask how the company records your return time, when its responsibility for the vehicle begins and how you’ll receive confirmation. Don’t improvise a key drop or assume parking the car automatically closes your rental.
For your own records, photograph the parked car’s condition, fuel or charge level, and odometer before following the supplier’s key instructions. Check the cabin and trunk for belongings, and keep the return confirmation when it arrives. Build room into your morning for finding the return entrance and getting to check-in; neither of these supplier pages provides a guaranteed return-lane-to-gate time.
